Jason Skinner

President and Founder

Jason Skinner comes from a heritage of builders. His earliest memories are riding around in his grandfather's lumber truck. He grew up with generations of men with tools in their hands and reverence for the land. They restored buildings as a way of life, and reused materials before it was fashionable.

Jason had the good fortune to learn the skills of carpentry under the guidance and tutelage of many fine men. At one point, crossing paths with a Japanese Master Craftsman with a keen eye for detail: every beam exactly in line, every wall straight to the corner. There would be no excuse for shoddy workmanship. To this day, Jason is just as proud to show the work beneath the coverings as he is the beauty that displays above.

Jason's strict discipline and organizational skills helped him fly right through his years in the United States military and brings a superior level of management and oversight to all aspects of each job. With more than 25 years in the business he has seen most head scratching situations, but still gets excited by a perfectly straight foundation.

Kevin Chamberlain

Vice President

Kevin is the go-to guy for almost any question at Bay Area Custom Homes; his technical expertise, uncanny analytical skills, and genuine empathy for clients keeps his calendar packed. Kevin touches each stage in the life of a project, and has meaningful interactions with employees and project consultants. Operations, crew, admin, business strategy and decision-making, technical, estimating: the list could go on. He is the epitome of a General Manager.

When Kevin was growing up, new homes were being framed on his street. The smell of freshly milled lumber. The freedom of (sneaking in and) scrambling over a construction site. Witnessing the precision of deciphering a blueprint and placing the puzzle pieces in the air in front of you. Here started Kevin's love of custom building. And, luckily his preschool had a woodshop, and his dad needed help with deck work and other home projects to keep him busy as he grew up.

It's no surprise that he followed a path into construction. On his first job, he watched framers take apart significant portions of an existing home, and put in new framing while referencing the blueprints. He was still awestruck that anyone would understand how to climb around on a building, take pieces of it apart, construct the new elements and tie it all back together. It seemed like something so far beyond him, but it was not long after that he got the opportunity to work directly with framers. He would take blueprints home and study them in the evening, leading to a fulfilling career working in the trades.

And he just kept building from there.

Kevin met Jason when they were working in adjacent shops in Belmont. Kevin was fabricating custom cabinetry, developing a very high technical bar and knowledge of fine finishes, and Jason was just starting BACH. The two were born with a saw and a hammer, so they joined forces in early 2006, a few years after meeting. They complement each other perfectly; as the owner, Jason focuses on business operations and Kevin manages project specific operations (along with a little bit of everything else.)

Kevin is proud to call Menlo Park his home. Although he keeps quite busy, he spends his free time with his wife, daughter and son. They're a very active family and can be found doing many outdoor recreational activities: camping, fishing, riding mountain bikes and motorcycles. And for Kevin and his wife, ice hockey.

Kris Breaux

Senior Project Manager

Every day at Bay Area Custom Homes looks a little different for Kris, but her clients always come first. From estimating to coordination between architects, designers and the field, she pulls everything together to make sure it's on track and on budget. As she works to create a legacy home for clients and their children, her projects become part of her heart and soul.

Kris has 20 years of extensive experience in the custom residential building industry. Inspired by her father, a leader in Bay Area custom home building, she has worked her way through the ranks, gaining experience in every part of the profession. Kris takes pride in each step from pre-construction through post-construction, maintenance, and service. Kris previously co-developed the Maintenance & Service Department for a high-end home builder, managing and evolving the team and the system over a number of years. Her clients are her number one priority, and she prides herself on these long-lasting relationships and service. She has developed lifetime relationships with clients that have spanned decades. She will often meet previous clients for lunch, has been included in family parties and events, and referred to other family members as a great construction resource. When you love what you do and are good at it, it shows!

She loves working on projects that are complex with a significant amount of detail, and a high-end level of custom construction. She brings a balance to her work and to the field: she is laid back and flexible, but can always come with solutions and is meticulous about jobsite safety and cleanliness.

Kris' roots run deep in the Peninsula; her family lives within ten minutes of each other. She is a mother and actively involved in her daughter’s sports and activities; and cherishes a work-life balance.

Kary McLemore

Controller and Project Manager

Kary works as both a controller and a project manager for BACH. She’s a bit like our main beam, a liaison between everything: clients, crew, management, and the rest of the BACH team. Kary’s financial and management work come together to make sure that what needs to happen happens.

Kary has 25 years of experience in financial services, working in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, in company strategy and as part of an executive leadership team. As you might imagine from someone with this extensive background, she is very organized and orderly, and the process of completing the steps of the project are fulfilling for her “checkbox” nature.

Her work as a project manager allows her to get away from the desk and spend time out in the field where she’s involved with the progress of a project from start to end. She loves all things "process" and adds efficiency every step of the way. Having project managed the renovation of her own home, Kary is honored to walk the path together with clients as their own dreams unfold.

Cristina Meeks

Project COordinator

Cristina's the logistical mastermind who makes possible everything we do. You could think of her as the framing of BACH. Practical, supportive and holds the whole thing together. You might not always see it, but with no framing, you have no building.

Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
A: Someday I would love to travel the US in a RV to visit our national parks.
